About Yellow Dog Gallery
Glen was raised among the soy fields of Ohio, and spent many an hour helping the local farmers keep their woodchuck population under control. With his bow in hand, his mom would drop him a couple miles outside of town and he would walk the fields and canal home, honing his archery skills and his visual acuity. He became a thorough mix of high-caliber athlete and outdoor woodsman with the developing skill to put pencil to paper. Whether drawing things he saw on his walks to images he saw in outdoor magazines or drawing things for his neighborhood friends on their t-shirts, Glen didn’t miss an opportunity to create.
From these home ground rambles, he quickly graduated to the north woods of Michigan as a college student at Northern Michigan University in Marquette where he pursued a teaching degree in industrial arts. When not in the classroom he was off to the woods hiking and skiing by himself or with friends, or playing on the varsity football team. It was always “a great day to be a Wildcat!” He spent his summers in the back country of Canada and Alaska with his brothers, Randy and John.
Glen continues seeking and drawing/painting what captures his attention or that of his companions, his golden retrievers, whether hunting with his family or just walking out to the shop. He is constantly in pursuit of the life around him and within him.
Glen explores not only painting and drawing, but also woodcarving in the form of doors, decoys and sculptures, wooden boat building and bronzes. He presently resides in East Jordan, Michigan with his wife Cindy, daughters Tanner Robin and Rainy River, dogs Endi and Dova, gyrfalcon Tumbler and various pea fowl and chickens….
